Chris and Sue Ellibee are the husband and wife team behind EuropeanMarket. We share a passion for beautiful products, delicious food, dynamic design, affordable travel, and our yellow Labrador, Greta.
Our addiction to European chocolate, food, and shopping led us to create EuropeanMarket. We took our first trip together to Europe in 1999. Sue was acting as art director for a photo shoot in Bremen, Germany. I volunteered to go along as her driver and translator. She promised that once I sampled German chocolate I'd be spoiled and wouldn't want chocolate bars from home. Well, she was right.
After that first trip, we've traveled to Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland. Each trip exposed us to incredible artisans creating beautiful crafts and tasty treats. At the end of each vacation we'd have shopping bags filled with unique ornaments, crafts, and candy. We'd get home and talk about how we should import the things we love and share them with others.
We hit critical mass while visiting Lugano, Switzerland in September 2004. We had purchased so many goodies we had to buy a third suitcase to get everything home. Obviously, we were hooked and needed to seek professional help.
Fast forward to July 2009, ten years after that first trip to Bremen. Following several months of discussion and reflection (and a few bottles of wine), we decided to live a dream and open EuropeanMarket. We want to share with you the best of European crafts, toys, confections, foods, and accessories. Enjoy!
